Approval for Purchase of Maintenance Renewal for Public Safety Mobile Data Hardware from Utility

Background

The City of Brentwood's Police and Fire departments have been using Utility's Rockets/Riots for almost 10 years. The Riot is an advanced wireless router which allows technology devices inside the vehicles to communicate data to/from the Communications center as well as many outside agencies including local, state and federal.

Each year we purchase annual support/maintenance for this equipment. The support covers hardware and software including receiving new versions of software when it becomes available. Last year we also added video capability to Fire units.This year's cost is a total of $39,210.00 to be shared between Police and Fire departments as reflected below.

The Utility Rockets/Riots are the only solution that has all necessary functions into one web-based application. Therefore, this is a sole source purchase direct from the manufacturer to maintain technical compatibility with all existing equipment.

Staff Recommendation

Staff recommends the approval of renewing support for Riots for Police and Fire departments.
