Information
Subject
Resolution 2020-89 - Approval to Purchase Lynx Duress System from Convergint Technologies
Background
The Technology Department is seeking to purchase a duress alert system for the new police building.  The duress system is a mixture of physical buttons and input devices strategically placed throughout the police building.  The system also has software that can be installed on end users’ PCs that gives them the ability to enter a combination of keys on their computer keyboard that will send out an alert.

The 911 center and a select number of police computers will have monitoring software installed on their computers that will alert them that a duress alarm has been activated.  The system can expand so duress alarms throughout other city buildings can eventually be added to the system.

In working with the City's selected access control vendor, Convergint, the Lynx Duress system was identified as the system that best fit the City's needs and desired functionality.  This system is available through Convergint under the same Sourcewell cooperative purchasing agreement as the access control system at a cost of $39,454.00.
