Approval to Purchase a Dell server to replace the existing Equature server

Background

Staff proposes the purchase of a Dell Server to replace the existing five-year-old server used by the Emergency Communications Center. The server runs specialized software from DSS-Equature for recording 911 and administrative phone calls, radio communications audio and captures the CAD computer screens as a video. The existing server is due for replacement and is a budgeted item. This server will be located in the new Communications center inside of Police Headquarters.

The cost for the server is $12,070.86 and will be purchased from Dell using contract pricing from the Wilson County Board of Education's contract with Dell. Pursuant to state law, the City is able to "piggyback" off this agreement and make purchases under the same pricing, terms, and conditions. This is a budgeted expense related to relocating the Emergency Communications Center.

Staff Recommendation

Technology staff recommend the purchase of equipment from Dell to replace the Equature server.
