Subject

The Police Department is requesting approval to move forward with the purchase of duty holsters that will accomodate weapons equipped with red dot sights.

Background

Transitioning to handguns with “Red Dot” optics/sights is a non-routine goal/objective of the Police Department for this fiscal year. New duty handguns with red dot sights mounted on them require a different type of duty holster in which to secure those handgun/sight combinations. Our current inventory of duty holsters will not accomodate a handgun with a red dot sight.

In order to keep costs down and avoid time consuming training on a different type of duty holster, we elected to stay with a Safariland holster. The holster the Department selected is the Safariland 6360RDS which is dentical in design and function to our current holsters and will accomodate the red dot sights. Bids were solicited for 75 duty holsters and the results are as follows:

Accurate Law Enforcement $147.24 each for a total of $11,043.00
GT Distributors, Inc. $151.02 each for a total of $11,326.50
Bud's Police Supply $155.00 each for a total of $11,625.00

Staff recommends accepting the low bid offered by Accurate Law Enforcement.

Staff Recommendation

Staff recommends approval to accept bid and move forward with the purchase of duty holters that will accomodate handguns equipped with red dot sights.
