Subject

The Police Department is requesting approval to move forward with the purchase of red dot sights for duty handguns.

Background

Transitioning to handguns with “Red Dot” optics/sights is a non-routine goal/objective of the Police Department for this fiscal year. One part of this "Red Dot Optic" project is the selection and acquisition of the actual red dot optic itself. After testing and evaluation of several optics, the Trijicon RMR06 optic proved to be the best optic based on durability, reliability, and functionality. Bids were solicited from numerous vendors for this optic and prices per unit ranged from $421 to $497.

Staff recommends accepting the low bid provided by Clyde Armory.

Staff Recommendation

Staff recommends approval to accept the bid from Clyder Armory and move forward with the purchase of red dot sights for $31,623.
