Resolution 2021-92 - Approval of Change Directive with Four Star Paving Co., to add two guardrail line items to the existing guardrail section of our annual paving contract.

Background

The annual road repair contract has many guardrail line items built into it. Historically these have been used mostly for emergency repairs following a car accident. However, the contract does allow for new installation as well. As Public Works attempts to facilitate a new guardrail installation on Longstreet Circle, there are two items needed that are not currently included in our annual paving contract.

Public Works recommends the approval of a Change Directive to include long metal beam posts at $37.00 per foot and type 13 end terminals at $1,475.00 each. These line item additions will allow us to move forward with a guardrail installation that meets all necessary requirements for this location. Note that individual task orders for work under the paving contract are authorized by the Public Works Director.

Staff Recommendation
