The Police Department requests authorization to purchase one (1) replacement vehicle for police functions under state contract. The proposed vehicle will be assigned to the Patrol Division. The vehicle is a sedan that will be fully equipped and marked to be used by Patrol Officers.
The proposed vehicle will replace PD unit #132 which was struck while assisting a stranded motorist on I-65 on July 13, 2018. The vehicle was heavily damaged and is a total loss. PD is working with the insurance carrier for the driver of the vehicle that struck unit #132 to recoup the value of the destroyed vehicle as well as equipment that was damaged. Any equipment that was not damaged in the crash will be reused in the replacement vehicle.
The vehicle proposed for purchase is the 2019 Dodge Charger. The Charger is the vehicle currently used by patrol for all non-specialized units. The cost of the Dodge Charger patrol vehicle is $22,912.00. Columbia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram has been awarded the Tennessee State purchasing contract for the 2019 Dodge Charger.
Please contact the Police Chief if any additional information is needed.
