Approval to purchase six complete sets of PPE to include coat, pants and suspenders for the Fire & Rescue Department.

Background

The FY 2019 operating budget for the Fire and Rescue Department includes funding for the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from Municipal Emergency Services (MES). This is the structural firefighting "turnout gear" used by our personnel. This vendor is on the Over $10,000 List for cumulative purchases, however, a separate authorization from the City Commission is required since this single purchase exceeds $10,000. This purchase includes turnout coats, pants, and suspenders. The purchase price for these six sets totals $14,998.20. The product is Globe G-XCEL, which is the Fire and Rescue Department standardized turnout gear, and is available through MES as a sole-source provider.
