Approval to Purchase Three Traffic Detection Camera Systems.

Background

Funding was included in the FY 2021 Capital Projects Fund budget for the purchase of new traffic signal detection camera systems at the following intersections:

Maryland Way & Granny White Pike
Concord Road & Wilson Pike
Wilson Pike & Raintree Parkway

The City of Brentwood Public Works Department currently uses the Autoscope Vision-4 traffic signal detection camera system throughout our traffic control network. We have an established history of maintenance, operation, and programming experience with these camera systems. Additionally the Autoscope Vision-4 cameras are compatible with our traffic controllers and remote capability for programing and adjustment. For these reasons, we believe that there is an established efficiency in using the Autoscope product.

Southern Lighting and Traffic Systems is the only authorized provider of the Autoscope Cameras for the state of Tennessee; therefore, staff recommends the waiver of competitive bidding for the purchase of this equipment as a sole source purchase.

Staff recommends the sole source purchase of three Autoscope Vision-4 Traffic Detection Camera systems for a total of $70,950.
