Request Authorization to Purchase a 2019 Ford F-350 XLT Pickup for the Fire & Rescue Department.

Background

The Fire & Rescue Department requests approval to purchase one (1) replacement 4X4 pickup truck included in the FY 2020 operating budget.

This truck will be used by the Training Division Chief as well as by response personnel as needed to tow one of the department’s special response trailers. This vehicle will replace a 2003 Chevrolet ¾-ton pickup with 104,755 miles. The 2003 Chevrolet will be surplused at a later date and sold at auction.

The Fire & Rescue Department has specified a Ford F-350 Super Duty XLT 4X4 since it has the tow capacity to pull all department trailers, including a tandem axle Special Operations trailer that weights approximately 10,000 pounds.

Ford of Murfreesboro has been awarded the state purchasing contract for the 2019 Ford F-350 XLT. The State Contract Base Price for this truck is $40,908.00. Additional factory options including a heavy-duty front suspension package, engine block heater, and Vermillion Red paint (to match the rest of the fleet) add an additional $885.00 for a total cost of $41,793.00. Lights, graphics, and other emergency equipment will be purchased separately at a cost not to exceed $7,000.00.
