Approval for Purchase Under State Contract of One Replacement Vehicle for the Police Department.
Background
The Police Department requests authorization to purchase one (1) replacement vehicle for police functions under state contract. The proposed vehicle will be assigned to the Police Administration Division to be used as a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) vehicle. The vehicle, an SUV, will be fully equipped and marked as a DARE unit. 
 
The vehicle proposed for DARE is the Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoe is an SUV which offers more cab and workable space than the standard sedan. It allows plenty of room for the officers to bring equipment and activities for the DARE students to enjoy.

The cost of the vehicle is $33,026.60. Wilson County Motors has been awarded the Tennessee State purchasing contract for the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe.

The purchase of this vehicle is in accordance with the FY 2019 Equipment Replacement Fund's vehicle replacement schedule.
