Resolution 2023-58 - Award of FY 2024 Pavement Marking Contract with Kerr Brothers & Associates, Inc.

Background

The City's current pavement marking contract expires on June 30, 2023. Therefore, an invitation to bid was released on March 3, 2023, and the bid opening was held on March 30, 2023. Only one bid from Kerr Brothers & Associates, Inc. was received. The bid amount is based on estimated quantities to facilitate comparison of bids. If the City actually purchased the quantities used for the bid, it would represent a 38% increase over the prior contract. However, actual costs will be based on work completed at the quoted unit prices.

Kerr Brothers has performed the City's pavement marking work for the past several years with great professionalism and success. Staff believes that their prices are competitive and their level of service is unmatched within the industry. Kerr Brothers is located in Metro Nashville making it easy for them to delivery timely completion of assigned work.

Fiscal Impact:

This contract is utilized for routine maintenance of existing pavement markings, reestablishment of pavement markings post road resurfacing work, and additions of new pavement markings where necessary. Although the total amount spent each year varies depending on the amount of work done, we seek approval of up to $100,000 of the $130,000 budgeted amount for Fiscal Year 2024.
