Resolution 2021-74 - Use of Competitive Sealed Proposals Process for Procurement and Installation of Inclusive Playground Equipment at Granny White Park

Background

As you are aware, City staff has started design work on site development for a new inclusive playground at Granny White Park. As part of the project planning, staff is requesting authorization for use of the competitive sealed proposal process to select the playground manufacturer to supply and install the actual playground equipment. Staff feels that by using this process it will provide us a better overall package because equipment quality and design as well as experience in other inclusive playgrounds will be important for this procurement.

If approved, staff will begin preparation of the request for proposals (RFP) package and work with the design team and community ad hoc committee to finalize specific equipment preferences. It is our hope that we have submittals to start reviewing in late August to early September. If you have any questions please let City Manager Kirk Bednar or Parks Director Dave Bunt know.

Staff Recommendation

Staff is recommending approval for use of Competitive Sealed Proposals Process for Procurement and Installation of Inclusive Playground Equipment at Granny White Park.
