Resolution 2020-56 - Resolution to amend an agreement with High Tech Special Effects to to change the date of the Independence Day Fireworks Display at Crockett Park to July 4, 2021.

Background

This resolution authorizes the acceptance of an amendment to the previously approved agreement with High Tech Special Effects for the 2020 Independence Day Fireworks Display at Crockett Park. This amendment is being proposed after the cancellation of the 2020 celebration due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the CDC and State of Tennessee's guidance of not allowing mass gatherings. This amendment modifies the date of the fireworks show to July 4, 2021. All other terms of the agreement remain the same, and there is no increase in cost.

High Tech Special Effects, Inc. has been awarded the fireworks contract through competitive bidding each year since 2011.

Staff Recommendation

Staff recommends City Commission approval of the resolution amending the contract with High Tech Special Effects, Inc. to move the date of the fireworks display to July 4, 2021.

Previous Commission Action

The City Commission previously approved Resolution 2020-19 for an agreement with High Tech Special Effects on March 9, 2020.
