Appointment of City Commissioners to various boards and committees
Background
At the May 22, 2023 meeting, the Board of Commissioners will appoint from its members representatives to the following boards for two (2) year terms that will expire in May 2025.
 
  1. Environmental Advisory Board*
     
  2. Park Board*
     
  3. Planning Commission (a board member other than the Mayor's designated position)*
     
  4. Tree Board*
(*The Municipal Code provides that the representative of the Board of Commissioners serves a term running concurrently with the representative’s term on the Board of Commissioners, or until replacement by the Board of Commissioners. The Board traditionally votes on appointments every two years, following the City Commissioner election.)
  1. At the August 22, 2022 meeting, Commissioner Susannah Macmillan was appointed to serve on the Library Board for the unexpired remainder of a three-year term ending June 30, 2024.  In June 2024, the Board will again appoint a Commissioner representative to the Library Board for a new three-year term ending June 30, 2027.  
     
  2. The Mayor will appoint one City Commissioner to serve on the Historic Commission for a term consistent with the Mayor's term as Mayor.
     
  3. The Mayor or a person designated by the Mayor will serve as the City's representative to the Executive Committee of the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), and the Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC).
     
  4. The Mayor or a person designated by the Mayor and confirmed by the Board shall serve as the City's representative to the County Growth Coordinating Committee.
     
  5. The Mayor or a person designated by the Mayor will serve on the Planning Commission for a two-year term consistent with the Mayor's term.  Carole Crigger currently serves in this capacity.
     
  6. The Mayor or City Manager (as the alternative) will serve as the City's representative to the Williamson County Economic Development Council. Currently, the Mayor serves in this role.
