Approval to purchase a Cisco 48-port Switch for Fire Station 5

Background

The Technology Department needs to purchase a Cisco 48-port network switch to install at the new Fire Station 5. This is a standard switch that has historically been readily available with very short lead times. However, staff has been advised by vendors that due to supply chain issues across multiple industries, switches like this can now take up to a year to arrive upon ordering.

In contacting suppliers, staff has discovered that Presidio has this switch in stock as part of a very small supply, and is available immediately upon issuance of a purchase order. This purchase is from the NASPO State Purchasing Cooperative Contract at a cost of $10,422.40.

Staff Recommendation

Technology staff recommends purchase of this switch for Fire Station 5.
