Resolution 2024-38 - Approval to Surplus and Donate out of service Police Department Vehicles
Background
The Brentwood Police Department periodically receives requests from smaller Tennessee police departments for donations of surplus fleet vehicles and equipment that have reached the end of their useful lifespan. Such donations of equipment with minimal value on the market have created goodwill for the City of Brentwood from the smaller public safety agencies across the state.

The Police Department recently received a request for a donation of two (2) vehicles from the Centerville Police Department, which is located in Middle Tennessee in Hickman County.  Centerville is a town of approximately 3,500 residents and has a budget that allows them to purchase only one police vehicle each year.  This limitation does not allow them to keep up with the demand placed on their vehicles by daily patrol use.

The two vehicles BPD proposes to donate are:
  1. 2016 Ford Utility Interceptor, VIN 1FM5K8AR5GGB13001 with 85,318 miles, and
  2. 2018 Ford Utility Interceptor, VIN 1FM5K8AR6JGA37375 with 85,173 miles.
Both vehicles are equipped with an interior light bar, siren controller, radar, partition, and console.  The electronic equipment is obsolete and not something that would be reused in another vehicle.  Both vehicles are unmarked. Centerville understands that the vehicle is transferred "as is" and that no warranty is included or implied.

The Police Department also seeks approval to surplus seven (7) vehicles that are either damaged or part of the scheduled replacement plan. These vehicles will be sold at auction on GovDeals.com.
