Resolution 2019-46 - Acceptance of Water Line Easement for Eastpark Office Building Improvements.

Background

As part of office building renovations at Eastpark Office Building 2, the installation of an offsite 4-inch water service line is required to provide water to the newly installed fire sprinkler system for the building. In order for the offsite water to be installed, the owner, Eastpark General Partnership ("Eastpark"), on behalf of the City, was required to obtain a 20-foot water line easement from an adjacent property owner, Albany Road – GP, LLC ("Albany"). Albany owns the land where the existing public water line is located and where the new water service line for the building will connect. Accordingly, Eastpark has negotiated the purchase of the easement from Albany.

Staff is recommending that the easement be accepted by the Board of Commissioners. If acceptance is authorized, the easement will become the property of the City for future maintenance of the water line by the Water Services Department. Upon acceptance, the easement document will be recorded with the Register of Deeds office and a copy returned to Albany.
