Background

The Water Services Department’s Capital Improvements Program for FY2018-2019 includes replacement of a portion of a 12” water line along Crockett Road, beginning just east of the new Crockett Rd roundabout to near Ohara Dr. in the Twelve Oaks subdivision. This section of water line has been determined to be in need of replacement due to numerous line breaks in recent years. Due to the poor condition of this line, there is a high potential for failure that would result in the loss of water service to customers in the area. Therefore staff recommends replacement.

To successfully complete this project, the City will need to acquire easements from several property owners along the route (including Raintree Forest HOA, Mr. Carl Dean and the Family Community Church) for the installation of the pipeline and for future operation & maintenance of this line. The City will also need to acquire temporary construction easements for use by the project contractor during the construction period (see attached map).

Accordingly, staff is requesting authorization for the Mayor, City Manager and City Attorney to move forward with negotiations for the acquisition of easements and property for this water line project. Please contact Chris Milton, Director of Water Services should you have any questions.
