Resolution 2018-30 - Authorizing Acquisition of Sewer Line Easement for Moores Lane Sewer Force Main Project.

Background

The Water Services Department’s Capital Improvements Program for FY2018-2019 includes replacement of a portion of an 8 inch sewer force main from the intersection of Carothers Rd. and Moores Lane, to Crockett Springs Trail (entrance of Nashville Golf & Athletic Club). This section of force main was assessed in 2016 and determined to be in very poor condition and in need of replacement. This force main is the discharge line for the City’s I-65 sewer lift station which serves Westgate Circle, Liberty Place shopping center and Moores Lane residential areas.

To successfully complete this project, the City will need to acquire at least two permanent easements for the installation of the pipeline and for future operation & maintenance of the line along with temporary construction easements for use by the project contractor during construction. The proposed easements are located near the entrance to the Crockett Springs neighborhood as shown on the attached map. The properties affected are the Crockett Springs Homeowners' Association and the Nashville Golf & Athletic Club.

Accordingly, staff is requesting authorization for the Mayor, City Manager and City Attorney to move forward with negotiations for the acquisition of easements and property for this public improvement project. Please contact Chris Milton, Director of Water Services should you have any questions.
