Approval to Sell Surplus Police Department Vehicles by Auction.

Background

The Police Department requests City Commission approval to dispose of seven (7) Police Department vehicles and one (1) golf cart by auction utilizing Govdeals.com.

The vehicles were identified by staff as those with mechanical issues or the oldest models in the fleet and were replaced during FY 2018 in accordance with the Department's vehicle replacement schedule. All police equipment and vehicle graphics will be removed prior to the sale.

The golf cart was previously used by PD DARE officers. It has not been deployed in some time and is in need of replacement batteries and other repairs which would not be cost effective considering its age and previous maintenance history.

The vehicles and golf cart will be sold by auction to the general public on Govdeals.com. All proceeds from the sale will be placed back into the Equipment Replacement Fund which will strengthen the financial position of the fund for future vehicle purchases.

Unit#150 2010 Dodge Charger 82,051 miles, vehicle has steering column issues.
Unit#151 2010 Dodge Charger 89,143 miles
Unit#104 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan 61,320 miles, vehicle has electrical issues.

Golf cart for surplus:

2001 electric Club Car.
