Approval to purchase eight (8) ballistic vests and sixteen (16) ballistic plates for police officers from Angel Armor.

Background

The police department requests approval to purchase eight ballistic vests and 16 ballistic plates for police officers. Each vest requires two plates for the highest level of protection. Six of these vests will be replacement vests for current police officers whose vests are expiring after their five-year life cycle. Two of these vests will be for new hire police officers.

The vendor for this purchase is Angel Armor of Fort Collins, Colorado. They are the sole source (see attachment) that provides rifle-level ballistic protection in daily wear vests. The City last purchased vests from this vendor in December 2019 and also in April of this year.

This purchase will be made from available funds within the Police Department's operating budget.
