The Police Department requests approval to donate surplus uniforms and equipment to the Monroe County Sheriff's Department in Key West, Florida. The Key West area suffered heavy damage during the recent hurricane, which resulted in many law enforcement agencies and officers losing all law enforcement equipment. Following the storms, the Monroe County Sheriff's Department requested donations of equipment to offset some of those loses.
BPD staff conducted an inventory of surplus equipment and found the following surplus items were available for donation:
41 short sleeve shirts
13 long sleeve shirts
9 jackets
17 pants
1 training pants
1 traffic vest, orange, plain
1 pair of boots
6 outer belts
4 inner belts
6 handcuff pouches
6 holsters, Glock
4 magazine pouches, Glock
These surplus items are no longer of use to BPD staff and would not be reissued. The donated items will help offset some of the costs associated with the purchase of new equipment.
