Approval for purchase of replacement chipper machine from Bandit Industries, Inc.

Background

The FY 2018 Equipment Replacement Fund budget includes funding to replace a Bandit chipper machine. The periodic replacement of this type of equipment is essential to the Public Works Department's daily operations.

A Bandit 200XP is available under the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) Contract # 062117, Quote #73595 for $39,332.00. (See attached.) This price is below industry standard pricing. Pursuant to Resolution 2009-50 and as authorized by Tennessee law, the City is a participating member in NJPA and can purchase through NJPA's contracts without going through a separate bid process. The City has used a number of these machines over the years and they have been found to be the best in terms of reliability and performance.
