Funding is provided in the FY 2017-18 Capital Projects Fund for the installation of a four-board fence along the frontage of Owl Creek Park. This project has been planned for the past couple of years, but has been delayed due to the widening of Concord Road. Now that the road improvements are complete, staff is ready to move forward with the fence project.
Bids were recently solicited for the installation of approximately 1,900 linear feet of four board fencing along the frontage of Owl Creek Park and were opened on January 6, 2017. Five bids were received and ranged from a low of $17,670.00 to a high of $61,500. There were three bids in the $21,000-$25,000 range. Langford Fence Company was the lowest and best bid at $17,670.00. Though the City has never worked with this company, staff checked with trusted contractors, who indicated Langford Fence has a good track record. Therefore, staff recommends acceptance of this bid, which is within the $25,000 budget for this project.
If approved, the Waverly, Tennessee based company is expected to complete the work in early spring. It should also be noted that staff will be working with another company to install an entrance sign in conjunction with this project.
Attachments include the proposed contract, bid specifications and location map, bid sheet and bid tabulation.
