Background
Periodically, the Water Services Department seeks opportunities for new contract pricing for numerous services including employee uniforms, clothing and related apparel. Recently, the Department sought uniform and clothing purchasing opportunities for the purpose of purchasing services at reduced costs in compliance with City purchasing policies.  

Cintas Corporation, a provider of clothing, uniform and associated work related products, has been awarded an agreement via bid solicitation under the US Communities Government Purchasing Alliance for the rental and purchase of work related uniform and clothing services.  US Communities is a national cooperative purchasing program, providing government procurement opportunities to local and state agencies for ensuring best overall pricing and services via competitive bidding.  Previous action by the Brentwood Board of Commissioners allows for departments to utilize the US Communities Government Purchasing Alliance for purchase of goods and services for which contracts have been awarded under terms and conditions of the Alliance. 

The Water Services Department annual budget includes funding for providing uniforms, clothing and miscellaneous related items to all department employees.  The Department spends about $20,000 annually for these services.  Staff is recommending approval of the attached agreement with Cintas for providing these services in the next year, with an annual option for renewal for a period of four additional years.  Approval of the attached agreement will permit the Department to rent or purchase items at the awarded prices each year as needed.  Note that the prices included in the US Communities contract are significantly lower than what the department has been paying on the open market locally through the normal purchase order process.
