Approval of Purchase of 4x4 Pickup Truck from Wilson County Motors, Inc under State Contract

Background

The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting authorization to purchase one 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD (pictures attached) under State contract (SWC#209). Wilson County Motors, LLC is the authorized dealer in Tennessee for this vehicle (see attached State bid information). The State contract price is $27,271.75, which is under the $27,500 budgeted for this purchase. This truck will replace a 1997 GMC Sierra 4X4 (originally a Public Works vehicle) with 160,000 miles.

Staff also solicited informal price quotes from other dealers, but after reviewing the quotes, it was clear that the State contract price was lower than the City could expect to receive if bids are solicited for the vehicle directly.
